  • LEATHERMOUTH DEBUT XO IN JANUARY

Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance) And Mates Set To Release Debut January 27th

New Jersey hardcore group LeATHERMOUTH will release their debut album XO on January 27th via Epitaph. Featuring My Chemical Romance rhythm guitarist Frank Iero on vocals and Rob Hughes on guitar along with various friends, LeATHERMOUTH are ready to show the world how pissed off they are.

Frank Iero has had enough. After years of keeping anger and rage bottled up, he can no longer contain it. In 2007, Iero, guitarist of the hugely popular rock band My Chemical Romance, reached his tipping point and created LeATHERMOUTH with Rob Hughes, a friend from Iero's home state of New Jersey.

"I think there is a void of bands that are outspoken on things that actually matter," explains Iero. "There's too much bad hair and white belts. Sometimes it nice to turn your brain off and just listen to someone sing about girls. I'm not knocking it. I do think there is a time and a place. But LeATHERMOUTH isn't like that...it's about hate. Hate that boils up inside and eats away at you, if you don't vomit it up you know it will eventually destroy you."

Tired of the misdirected blame in school shootings, overmedicating kids and nefarious politicians among other things, Iero viciously explodes with pent up frustration on XO, spewing his aggression out in a rapid fire succession. XO is a call to action with thick speeding rock riffs inciting listeners with brutal hostility, inculcating a sense of urgency with the controversial track "Catch Me If you Can," which likens the NYPD to Jack the Ripper, "Sunsets Are For Muggings," about being robbed of your childhood by drugs and therapy and "5th Period Massacre," which points the finger at bullying students as the cause a school shooting.

"I would say this record is about trying to wake people up to what is happening right in front of their eyes," Iero continues. "We are all trying our hardest to pretend bad things don't happen to good people, and that there is some higher power looking over us...but it's bullshit. Stop covering your children's eyes. Everything is fucked, and pretending it's not isn't making things any better. I'm tired of people praying for a change when it's up to them to get off their asses and make a change."

LeATHERMOUTH will be touring sporadically in support of XO in 2009, in between Frank's duties to My Chemical Romance.

    XO Tracklisting:
    1. 5th Period Massacre
    2. Catch Me If You Can
    3. This Song Is About Being Attacked By Monsters
    4. I Am Going To Kill The President Of The United States Of America

    6. Sunsets Are For Muggings
    7. My Lovenote Has Gone Flat

  • I SET MY FRIENDS ON FIRE TEACH KIDS SAFE SEX

Band Teams Up With SMOSH.com To Create Internet Phenomenon "Sex Ed Rocks"

Miami's experimental electro-grind duo I Set My Friends On Fire have done it again. The twosome have teamed up with the widely popular sketch comedy site Smosh.com to create the web phenomenon "Sex Ed Rocks," a hilarious new song and video about the importance of safe sex. Co-written by I Set My Friends On Fire and Smosh, "Sex Ed Rocks" was posted on Youtube.com on Friday, November 21st and is already the #1 most viewed (778,134), rated, discussed (17,719 comments) and favorited video on the entire site. "Sex Ed Rocks" - Click here to watch it!

I Set My Friends On Fire know a thing or two about creating a splash across the web. The band made waves in 2007 with their grindcore version of Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat," which has garnered over 9 million listens to date on their Myspace page, and is featured on their recently released debut album, You Can't Spell Slaughter Without Laughter, out on Epitaph Records. Witty, bored and immensely creative, the band has put out a steady stream of webisodes, skits and even a musical!

Despite being slightly less than well-received by the music press who didn't get the comedic irony of You Can't Spell Slaughter Without Laughter, I Set My Friends On Fire are doing what they do and winning legions of young fans online and in-person. The record melds the band's unique sense of humor (as evidenced by song titles like "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beerholder" and "Things that Rhyme With Orange") with an onslaught of thrash angular guitar riffs, pulsing dance beats, brutal breakdowns, sassy screams and lush melodic choruses.

Kids and the curious can catch I Set My Friends On Fire live on the band's first tour of the US happening right now!!!

  • About to Pop: Escape the Fate

Why They're About to Pop: Escape the Fate has been through the ringer. After the success of their first album, 2006's 'Dying is Your Latest Fashion,' the Las Vegas band began to look like the subject of an episode of 'Intervention.' Their guitarist Omar Espinoza exited, while both their singer and their bassist got hooked on drugs. After two stints in rehab, ETF's frontman Ronnie Radke was arrested for battery and eventually kicked out of the band, leaving the hardcore punkers in a serious predicament. However, fate just may have been on the boys' side as bassist Max Green cleaned up his act and former Blessthefall vocalist Craig Mabbitt was looking for a new gig. Mabbitt, a friend of ETF, was a natural fit to sing on 'This War is Ours,' and now the band is right back on track. Catch Escape the Fate live on their full U.S. tour with Chiodos and Silverstein now through November.

  • EPITAPH TO RELEASE LEATHERMOUTH DEBUT ALBUM

Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance) Gets Pissed For Epitaph Records

New Jersey hardcore group LeATHERMOUTH have signed to Epitaph Records with plans to release their debut album in early 2009.

Featuring founding members Frank Lero of My Chemical Romance (vocals) and Rob Hughes (guitar) along with various friends who have toured and recorded with them, LeATHERMOUTH was formed in a garage in New Jersey in 2007 with the sole intention of making raw confrontational punk rock that not only served as a mouth piece for Iero's ire but also as a reminder to today's youth that sometimes it's the loudmouths who make change happen in this tumultuous world.

"For me LeATHERMOUTH is how I can vent about all the bullshit that I see going on in the world that makes me ill," says Iero. "I try to belabor the topics people want to forget exist. LeATHERMOUTH is where I can vomit out all the aggression that has built up inside. After recording or playing a LM show I feel empty of all that hatred that's been bottled up. It's a pleasant, cathartic experience. I would love to not feel the way I do about certain things, and have rainbows and birds chirping in my head, but that's just not the way I'm built. I am embarrassed by my emotions and originally wanted to keep LeATHERMOUTH anonymous... but *** it, none of us are perfect, the world is going to ***, and someone has to say it. I think it would be worse if I hid from it."

Once the group had finished recording they approached Epitaph Record's founder and president Brett Gurewitz about signing to the label. After listening to the sheer intensity and songwriting of the music Gurewitz was sold and signed the band to the label.

"That was a real no brainer," Iero adds. "I've been a fan of the label ever since I was young. They take chances with the artists they work with, and they let their artists be themselves. I have a great deal of respect for Epitaph, and when I decided that I didn't want to release the LeATHERMOUTH record myself there was only one other label that I felt would be right for this project. I feel honored to be accepted into the Epitaph family, it is something that I've thought about ever since I was a kid. I hope I don't *** it up."

Stay tuned for more information regarding the release of LeATHERMOUTH's debut album coming in 2009.

  • THURSDAY SIGNS WITH EPITAPH

New Jersey’s Post-hardcore pioneers, Thursday, have signed to Epitaph with plans to release their fifth full-length album this spring.

For the last decade, Thursday has released groundbreaking, essential albums like 2001’s fan-favorite Full Collapse and 2003’s breakthrough release War All the Time, and played riveting shows, garnering hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide. As the band approaches their tenth anniversary, Thursday has dug deep to recapture the original fervor and fire to make their most honest and sincere record to date.

Having had their share of ups and downs with record companies in the past, the band was determined to find a label that was as passionate about their artists as the band is about their music. The group signed with Epitaph Records in September based on their parallel values and the label’s reputation for its dedication to their bands.

"One of our biggest concerns was that we find a situation where we could be free to just be Thursday," explains Thursday frontman, Geoff Rickly. "Epitaph have continually voiced their desire to help us become the band that WE have always wanted to be. It's a great feeling to have a label encourage you to be more socially conscious and politically active. It's a great feeling to have a label owner push you to explore the most experimental and challenging aspects of your band's music instead of dissuading you. It's a truly great feeling to be working with a label that all of our friends have had so many great experiences with."

As Thursday enters the next phase with an enthusiastic group of kindred souls behind them, they are approaching their next effort with the same humility and passion that has elevated the band throughout their career. A reaffirmed socially conscious ideology and years of both experience and hindsight have found the band with their most authentic voice yet. Never ones to back down from their beliefs, Thursday is devoted to bring their fans their most thoughtful, inspiring album ever.

"We've always believed that music has the power to change lives and that all of us who have been lucky enough to make music for a living have a responsibility to try and make the world a more compassionate and livable place in any small way that they can" Geoff adds. "We hope that with Epitaph's help and guidance we can do our part."

Stay tuned for more details regarding Thursday’s forthcoming album.
  • Escape the Fate Want to Annihilate Their Fans

Play Halo 3 Against ETF and Download a New, Halo-inspired Track from This War Is Ours

In spite of their world tours and legions of screaming fans, Escape the Fate are much like other post-pubescent males: they like to spend their free time teaming up on Xbox Live, killing armies of alien invaders in Halo 3. So much, in fact, that the band has penned two songs about the game – "The Guillotine" from their hit debut Dying Is Your Latest Fashion and "This War Is Ours (The Guillotine Part II)" from their upcoming follow-up, This War Is Ours (in stores October 21st).

On October 2nd, the band is meeting their fans in multiplayer combat on Xbox Live as part of the "Game With Fame" series. From 5 to 7pm Pacific Standard Time (that's 8 – 10pm EST), the band will be meeting all challengers online on Xbox Live. Look for the gamertags EscapeFate GWF1 or EscapeFate GWF2. More information is available here.

In addition to being able to play their favorite band and their favorite game, Escape the Fate fans will be able to download both "The Guillotine" and the never-before-heard "This War Is Ours (The Guillotine Part II)" for free from the Xbox Marketplace.

The anticipation for Escape The Fate's new record has been furious. Earlier this month in a unique "social experiment," Escape The Fate challenged their fans to gather 50,000 people on their Buzznet page to unlock "The Flood," the first single off This War Is Ours. The response was so overwhelming, the social media giant's servers crashed for 10 minutes. This Wars Is Ours is in stores October 21st.
  • VANNA RECORDING NEW ALBUM

Post-hardcore Group Working On Sophomore Album Due Out In 2009

New England, post-hardcore group Vanna is currently wrapping up recording on their sophomore album, which is due out in early 2009. Produced by Steve Evetts (Story of the Year, Every Time I Die, Our Last Night) and mixed by Mike Watts, the yet-to-be-titled new album accentuates the band's matured sound, reveling in a elevated mix of melody and hardcore.

After a year and a half on the road in support of their debut album, Curses, Vanna returned home to Boston in March where they began writing and demoing new tracks before relocating to Los Angeles in August for a month to record with Evetts.

"Working with Steve Evetts was such an incredible opportunity for us," says guitarist Nick Lambert. "Steve produced some of the most influential and important albums for all of us in this band, so having him be the one steering the ship on this album was just mind blowing. He definitely helped us put together an album that we really feel is exactly how Vanna was always meant to sound!"

Comprised of Chris Preece (vocals), Evan Pharmakis (guitar, vocals), Shawn Marquis (bass), Nick Lambert (guitar) and newcomer Chris Campbell (drums), Vanna have over four years of touring and recording under their belts now, and have stepped into the studio with a remarkably developed sound for the group's sophomore effort.

"The new record feels like a great combination of everything we've done as a band up to this point," explains Lambert. "It has catchier hooks, bigger breakdowns, as well as bringing back all of the gang vocals, and gang singing, varied styles of screaming, and it has a faster more punk influenced vibe in a lot of places that we're really excited about. We all grew up as kids listening to pop punk as well as hardcore and metal so it feels right having the faster paced and more intense feel in the new songs, while as the same time adding even catchier and more pop oriented choruses."

Vanna continue to up their game with skillfully written songs and amazing duel vocals. Fans of the group's previous releases will be excited to hear the accessible mix of the catchiness from their EP and the brutal heaviness of their debut full-length, with an added edge of maturity and progressed talent.

"I really think everyone will be pumped with the new record," continues Lambert. "It feels so much more energetic than anything else we've ever done, and we've put our hearts and minds into this recording more so than we ever have before. If you were a fan of the Search Party EP or the Curses LP, then there will be something on the new record to appreciate. We feel like we finally had a chance to include everything that we love doing in this band and put it on one album without having to compromise anything. Not only that but quality wise, it's the best sounding Vanna recording by far, and we really think that's going to help translate our live energy to the new record."

Fans can get a preview of the album this fall when Vanna tours the US with Ligeia.
